Belgian teams could be excluded from the next Champions and Europa League
The Jupiler League Pro, highest category of Belgian football, decided to end its season due to the spread of the coronavirus. This move was not to the liking of the UEFA president, Aleksander Ceferin, who threatened to exclude Belgian teams from next year's European competitions. UEFA has asked the various bodies to stay on the sidelines and not cancel their respective tournaments prematurely. The Belgian league ended by proclaiming champion to Bruges with a 15-point lead over KAA Gent. However, the move could generate severe consequences for Belgian clubs in economic and sports terms, prohibiting their participation in next year's European competitions. It is a sanction that UEFA does not rule out and hopes to define itself in the coming weeks.
